Routes

"Best new ride of 2007!" This was an awesome ride and had some nice rolling hills out there. The people that helped put this together did an awesome job through the rain, flooding and all. Congrats to all! - Lisa Jachymiak

The Routes

NEW LOCATION! The event has grown so much that we've moved to the nearby Kendall County Fairgrounds on SR71. This site features extensive parking, large indoor spaces for registration, expo and the post ride party. Our beautiful routes traverse the low traffic, rolling hills of the Fox River valley.

On your ride you will cross the river multiple times, travel through scenic countryside and the towns of Millbrook, Millington, Sheridan and Plano. Rolling on the River is supported by radio-dispatched SAG, color coded wristbands with matching chalking, maps & clearly marked signage.

The third annual Rolling on the River ride begins in Yorkville (conveniently located just 55 mi SW of Chicago and an easy drive for those coming from downstate). All five routes start and end at the same location. No transportation of your bike is necessary.

Start Times

August 16th, 2008 -- Registration opens at 6:00 am and closes at 10:30 am. Start times are staggered for safety purposes. Where possible we ask that you adhere to this schedule (see notes below). Safety Information

Please note that helmets are required for all participants.  You will also be given a ride number to pin to your shirt (courtesy of Road ID).  This will allow us to readily identify and support you through the ride and will have your emergency contact info on it.

Cyclists MUST obey the rules of the road, riding on the right and obeying traffic signs.  This is a ride not a race. Young children should be within view and control of their parent/supervising adult at all times (for their safety).  As we are sharing the roads with cars we recommend that independently riding cyclists be age 8 or above, although that decision rests with the parents who are most familiar with the abilities of the child.
